Title: May Report
Date: Tue, Jun 22nd, 2010
Content:

The early season fishing Kadavu Island has been great this year with plenty of our guests catching that “fish of a lifetime” that we specialize in like Iron Mikes monster GT caught near our Cape Washington anchorage on Mikes third cast ever with a popper. This fish completely welded the drag on a top of the range reel during its first run and unable to back of the drag Mike was bounced all over the cockpit for 30 minutes.

Not many of our guest come to Fiji to chase marlin but those that do go home smiling with an average of 3 blue marlin bites a day.

Yellowfin tuna have been great this year with plenty of schools busting up within a few miles of the Cape Washington sea-mount. I would love to get some guys throwing stick baits into schools like the one pictured.

Most of our guests this season have been happy to concentrate on the magnificent variety of sport fish we are blessed with rather than just go hard on a particular species. Sailfish have been a little quiet but this will change any day as the water cools of and the sailfish start to pack up along the reef edge. Wahoo have been biting well for early season with fish being caught every day and some nice ones over 30kg.

.Big dogtooth have been a little quiet this season with the best fish estimated at 45kgs but plenty of smaller fish have kept the jig guys happy.

We still have some time vacant in June and July which is peak season for most of our sport fish. Please check out the itineraries on our website www.goldeneaglefiji.com or email moc.dnopgib@relknirtg.

If any hard core jig/pop guys are interested we would love to get a group to fish our Gau/Wakaya Islands option, this is a gun spot for GT and dogtooth as well as all the usual species.

During August/September Golden Eagle will be in the unfished Southern Lau Group and we still have a week vacant during each month. A domestic flight is required to Lakeba Island in the heart of the Lau Group; please contact George for more information.

We have been having some communication problems given the remoteness of the areas we fish so please if you do not get a reply in a few days try again.

Kind regards

George Trinkler
